| Greenpeace Continues Boulder Drop On Monday, Greenpeace dropped forty granite boulders into the Kattegatt, a straight between Sweden and Denmark on the west coast. The environmental group, which plans to drop a total of 180 one to three ton boulders in the area, has strewn the rocks in order to hinder bottom trawling by fishing boats.The Swedish government, however, is not amused, saying that the action threatens successful fishing agreements with neighboring Denmark. While Greenpeace wants Sweden to take action to protect the marine ecosystem, the government holds that international cooperation is the only possible way to preserve marine environments. sr.se |
Swede Gets Life Sentence for Terrorism The 43 year old Lebanese-born Swedish citizen Oussamma Kassir was given a life sentence by a federal court in New York on Tuesday.
