Dairy Companies Raising Milk Prices
Milk is Sweden's national drink greatly enjoyed in gallons by adults as well as children. Due to the recent recession with increasing difficulties for milk producing farmers to survive, more and more are deciding to get out of milking business. Only last year more than 9000 milking cows disappeared over Sweden and within last twenty five years their number halved.So in order to save the milk industry "The Milko company" is today raising the price for locally produced milk. The Milko is one of Sweden's largest dairy companies, a co-operative owned by farmers from mainly northern regions of the country.

UN-Experts Plead for City Library
Unesco's advisory body for the cultural heritage, ICOMOS, is pleading with Stockholm politicians to stop the planned demolition and extension of the city library, Stadsbiblioteket. The building is described by the body as "exceptional" and "an internationally acclaimed landmark", the daily newspaper Svenska Dagbladet writes. According to the paper, this is the first time that Icomos is announcing a so called "heritage alert" for a country in Scandinavia.
