Police To Crack Down On Seat Belt Misuse
50 lives in Sweden could be saved every year if everyone followed the law and wore a seatbelt in their car. That's the claim made by Sweden's Roads Authority in a new report."We should be going for 100% usage, and not the 90-95% we have today", says Claes Tingvall, in charge of traffic safety at the authority.Swedish news agency TT reports that the Swedish police are to start a new campaign next week to see if Swedish drivers really are belting up. Car drivers and passengers found not to be wearing a belt could be fined over 200 US dollars.
